Honest Mhlanga
Honest Thembelihle Mhlanga (1987) fell in love with Art while pursuing his studies in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe where he then made the choice to study Applied Art at Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre and a National Diploma in Applied Art and Design at Bulawayo Polytech, respectively. He describes himself as an ever evolving creative, coming up with new ideas, techniques and different approach in his work. So his work or style refuses to be contained in one view though he pallet to those that know his work will always show his identity. His works are usually centered around women and children, a testament of his upbringing, growing up surrounded by women and his love for the innocence of a child. He tells their stories from his view and highlights their pain, struggles and joy through his work. Mhlanga works mostly in Acrylic though he is experienced in different media. He is an experimental artists who collaborates a lot across other creative sectors such as music and theatre to translate and create visuals that are inspired by these other disciplines. This has allowed for him to work while enjoying traveling around Africa. Having exhibited in a number of Southern Africa countries and Taiwan.
